Reports to CEO

As the Operations Business Manager (OBM), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of removing the CEO from AC Sports’ day-to-day operations. This part-time position reports directly to the CEO, contributing to the overall efficiency and growth of the organization.

We seek an individual who:

  • Leadership Skills: The OBM should be able to guide, motivate, and manage a team effectively. They should be adept at strategic planning, setting objectives, and coordinating efforts to meet business goals.
  • Project Management Skills: This includes the ability to plan, execute, and oversee projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. Skills in agile methodologies could be beneficial.
  • Strong Communication Skills: The OBM should be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including clients, partners, vendors, and team members. This also involves active listening and empathy.
  • Analytical Skills: As the role requires monitoring KPIs, generating reports, and implementing systems for efficiency, the OBM should have strong data analysis skills. They should be able to derive insights from data to drive decision making.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The OBM should be able to identify issues promptly and come up with effective solutions. This includes strategic problem solving and crisis management skills.
  • Decision-Making Skills: The OBM needs to make quick, informed decisions that could impact the entire organization. This requires sound judgment and the ability to assess the benefits and risks involved.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding financial statements, budgeting, and cost management are crucial for an OBM. They should be able to assess the financial health of the organization and make decisions to ensure profitability.
  • Organizational Skills: The OBM should be adept at prioritizing tasks, managing time, and organizing resources effectively. This is crucial to ensuring smooth business operations.
  • People Management: This involves talent management, employee engagement, conflict resolution, and understanding how to attract and retain talent. The OBM should have a good understanding of what drives employee satisfaction and productivity.
  • Change Management: The ability to manage and drive change within an organization is crucial. This includes assessing the need for change, creating a change management plan, and implementing it successfully.
  • Emotional Intelligence: This includes self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. Emotional intelligence is critical for managing relationships, making sound decisions, and leading a team effectively.
  • Resilience and Stress Management: The OBM should be able to manage high-pressure situations without becoming overwhelmed. They should be able to bounce back from setbacks and maintain their composure in stressful situations.

  • Previous experience as an OBM in the sports industry
  • Knowledge of business ownership

What Does Success Look Like in This Role?

Success in this role involves efficiently managing all office and financial duties, freeing up time for the CEO to focus on business growth. Additionally, assisting in maintaining organizational order and decluttering the CEO’s workspace.

  • Someone who asks questions without first working out what information is needed to answer the question or how they might answer the question themselves if there was no one about to ask.

What You’ll Do (But Also Not Limited to These Tasks):

  • Manage financial transactions using QuickBooks.
  • Coordinate schedules and logistics for upcoming events.
  • Facilitate effective communication within the team and with external partners.
